Dont let anyone lie to you and say that numbers don’t matter because they do. BUT do you know what numbers you should be tracking and which numbers really matter to brands?
Here are 7 Instagram Metrics that you should be tracking:
#1- Instagram Saves: Are people saving your posts for later? This is one of the top tracked metric right now especially since “likes” are hidden for some people.
Make sure your content is something that people will want to save and reference later! This will also help you understand what content that your audience likes and enjoys!
#2- Reach: Your reach is the number of unique accounts that have seen your post. This metric is key because it lets you know where your posts stand when it comes to brand awareness. Are people sharing your posts thus exposing your content to new people who don’t follow you yet? Key: Create shareable content!
#3- Engagement Rate: This metric is one of my all time favorites because I pride myself on how responsive I am with my audience. Responding to comments, DMs are contributing factors. But your engagement rate is an indicator on how your audience responds to your content. Create content that pushes your audience to like and comment. Use your caption to create a call to action!
#4- Growth: The key to growth is not getting too hung on your follower count. You should focus on what content brings in more new followers/eyes on your content and what content was a miss. With IG insights you can see your daily follow/unfollow numbers and the posts that the actions came from. So essentially you know how to plan and create the content your audience responds to.
#5- Shares: If your instagram profile is a business or creator profile, you audience has the ability to share your posts with their friends and on their stories. You can can check the amount of share that you have and what accounts shared your post. This will also help you gauge the type of content that your audience likes. Take note!
#6-Best Day/Time to Post: This metric is super Important because it changes, the algorithm changes so often. I test out posting at different times during the day to see what works best. If you check your Instagram insights it will show you times and days that the majority of your audience is active on the app. This is very helpful and usually hold true for my audience.
#7- Hashtag Engagement: It is super important to create your own hashtags for your audience to utilize. For example: I share Target finds and deals. I made the hashtag #BlameItOnDlolo so that my audience can use it when they buy items I suggest. I also save tagged stories under my Blame It On Dlolo Highlight. All static posts I can track how well my hashtag is doing. I need to do better with this metric myself.
All of these metrics can be tracked via a business or creator account on IG. There are also countless apps that you can download to get a more in depth look!
