Packing without Overpacking is truly an art form. There are 7 tips I want to share on How to Pack Your Suitcase Without Overpacking.
Travel has been a huge part of my life since I was younger. It took me a while to finally understand the art of packing my suitcase without overpacking it. I am finally able to share the tips that I have learned over time that have helped me stay organized and under the 50 pound bag limit.
The most important key to not overpacking is choosing the right suitcase. Do your research on suitcases before going shopping if possible. Make sure that the bag you choose is suitable for your travel lifestyle. Does it fit the specifications for most airlines? Is a carry-on bag the best choice if you travel domestically often? These are a few questions you should ask yourself when shopping for luggage.
After choosing the right suitcase you’ll need to plan out your outfits to pack for your trip. The key is to mix and match staple clothing items with supporting accessories and pieces. This will prevent you from bringing tons full looks possibly causing you to overpack and have overweight luggage. Pack bottoms and shoes that can be worn multiple ways it will save room in your bag.
Another key to to keep in in mind is to keep your accessories small. When traveling I use a bigger travel purse that can fit one other purse inside of it. I also make sure the bag or purse will match all the looks that I plan on wearing during my trip. Keep the jewelry and shades minimal as well.
Shoes are another space killer when it come to packing. Choosing neutral shoes is the best way to save space in your bag. It will force you to narrow down your looks for your trip. One or two pair of shoes, boots or sneakers for 4-5 looks is ideal.
Lay out all of the items you want to take on your trip but only take half. You’ll be happy you did once you throw you bag on the airport scale.
The best way to pack without over packing is to Roll your clothes.
If you happen to be traveling during the Winter or somewhere colder, it’s possible you will need to bring coats and sweaters. Travel in your bulky items so they won’t take up all the space in your bag. Major Key! Sweaters tend take up a ton of space in a suitcase. Look into buying Heat Tech clothing as well, if you want to opt of of sweaters for just long sleeve shirts.
These tips should definitely help you pack without overpacking. Repeat them for your upcoming travel and let me know how it works for you.
