Unfortunately we are rolling into week 2 of Quarantine but it’s super important during this time to cleanse your space especially your closet. There are 5 Tips that will Help You Successfully Cleanse Your Closet and won’t leave you feeling empty. It’s important not be married to items in your closet unless they have sentimental value.
When is the last time that you wore it? When going though each item, ask yourself when is the last time you wore it. If has been more than 3 years, you won’t wear it in the next three years, so get rid of it.
Stay away from the notion that you’ll fit into items when you lose weight. This way of thinking will leave you with heaps of unneeded clutter in your closet. If it takes more than 5 pounds for you to fit it right now, cleanse it from your closet now.
Make two piles of the items that you are getting rid of, a pile for donations and another for potential resell to stores like Buffalo Exchange or Platos Closet. The donation pile will be items that would be harder to sell to the consignment shop. The selling pile is self explanatory, make sure that this pile has items that are in good condition and that you think have value.
While purging your closet, keep items that coordinate with at least 2-3 other items. You don’t want to spend your whole life buying new clothes for every event or occasion. If you keep this tip in mind you’ve secretly created multiple looks in your mind.
Force yourself to wear items in your closet. I am a culprit when it comes to buying quality pieces but not wearing them. Once your closet cleanse is complete, force yourself to wear those items within the next six months.
