There is a method for how I shop for sneakers and my goal is not to have every single release but to purchase with intention. I am in no way shape or form a sneaker head, I would consider myself a comfort connoisseur and my footwear of choice is always sneakers.
I take note of all the sneakers that I already have in my wardrobe, the color and the style. So that when new releases come up I am not rebuying things that are already in my wardrobe. What I don’t want to do is have a ton of sneakers that I don’t wear and more importantly I don’t want to clutter and take up space in my not-so-big closet.
When it comes to color of sneakers I try not to buy more than two of a specific color sneaker to ensure I’m not being wasteful. I like sneakers with multiple colors because I know I’ll be able to wear it with multiple things and multiple ways. That definitely helps with the versatility of my wardrobe overall.
It’s no secret that there are times that you’ll miss out on popular releases specifically because of bots and hype beasts but there’s hope with sites like StockX and Goat. I have only used StockX so far in my sneaker journey when buying the OG Jordan 1s and a pair of Converse. Good experience overall but its always an option because most people resell items there so the price usually isn’t too bad depending on the type and style of sneaker.
I don’t discriminate when it comes to the places that I shop for sneakers. I have found some of the most exclusive sneakers at Marshall’s and Ross. They are never really priced over $60 for the most part. Another good option is Nike Factory or Factory Outlets for your favorite sneaker brands. Most have very low priced options and ton of stock, which is a huge plus.
Last but not least, SAVE! I usually check the Nike release or sneaker release calendars on sneaker sites like Sole Collector so that I know when certain sneakers will release and I can save up to buy what I want.
P.S. Sometimes releases will pop up out of nowhere without warning. I think its best to put money aside a “Sneaker Fund” for those occasions. What better way to stash away your money than in a Kicks N Fros Sneaker Money Pouch !
