Target is my second home, with that being said I will be sharing 10 Tips for Shopping at Target.
Tip #1: If you find an item that is marked down very low but it’s not in your size, buy it and check other stores so that you can get the price matched.
Tip #2: Visit Target on Specific department markdown days.
Target has a specific schedule for markdowns in each department. Visiting the store on the day of markdowns gives you an advantage. The supposed schedule is:
Monday: Electronics, Accessories, kid’s clothing, books, baby and stationary
Tuesday: Domestic goods, women’s clothing, pets and market (food items)
Wednesday: Men’s clothing, health and beauty, diapers, lawn & garden and furniture
Thursday: Houseware, lingerie, shoes, toys, sporting goods, decor & luggage.
Friday: Auto, cosmetics, hardware and jewelry
Tip #3: Educate yourself on the clearance codes.
Clearance shopping is my expertise, pretty much the only section that I spend the most money in. Clearance Items will first get marked down to 15% or 30%, then to 50% and finally to 70% off. They are marked down in red or yellow stickers. Keep in mind if the price ends in $0.04, this means the item has reached its final markdown.
Tip #4: Check for price adjustments
If you’ve purchased and item and within 14 days the item gets marked down, take it to Target with your receipt and tags attached and they will do a price adjustment.
Tip #5: Get a Raincheck
If an item you want is sold out in store ask a store associate for a rain check and this will allow you to purchase the item for the sale price that day. This perk varies by store.
Tip #6: Shop Online
As an avid online shopper, I’ve found that it’s beneficial to shop online instead of in-store because there’s various deals that aren’t going on in the store that you can only snag online. Keep that in mind if there’s something you’ve been eyeing. Check online first, you can always have it shipped to the store for free.
Tip #7: Use cash-back websites & apps
Apps like Dosh, Ebates give you money back for items that you purchase at Target and other retailers. Both services are somewhat different but it all in all you get paid to shop!
Tip #8: Don’t Assume, Ask!
There have definitely been times where items Ive wanted have been placed in the wrong section that section being clearance and it didn’t have a clearance tag. But Ive made it a habit to ask customer service to check and make sure if its marked down most times it is. The item was just missed, so never assume its not marked down just ask it doesn’t hurt to ask.
These are just 8 tips that I could think of off the top of my head but I’ll do my best to keep updating this post with tips seeing as though I’m in Target 3-4 times a week!
P.S. Don’t forget to use the Target app and utilize Target Cartwheel offers!
Happy Shopping!
