Less than 72 hours in Greece is all I had to explore the gorgeous town of Santorini. I missed out on a flight deal to Greece for Under $300 because I was in the process of moving but I didn’t let that deter me from planning to meet up with my friends.
Ill share some of the places we ate, sights that we saw and things you need to keep in mind for a trip to Greece!
What you’ll need:
Make sure to bring a light jacket, it gets pretty cool at night in Greece. Keep in mind when the suns out youll be fine but at soon as the sun goes down you’ll definitely need something on your arms and even a closed toed pair of shoes if possible.
You will definitely need a pair of comfortable sandals or sneakers. Theres a ton of walking up hill and on cobble stone so you need to make sure that your footwear is up to par. We all had sore calves and feet after two days of exploring.
Things You Need to Know:
Bring your own tissue or wet wipes if possible. Im sure your hotel or airbnb will have some BUT theres a rule in Greece that you CANNOT flush any paper down the toilet you have to throw it in the trash. As bad as it sounds I have dealt with it in other countries as well so Im familiar but you just want to be prepared with your own toiletries etc
Only Drink bottled water, NO Tap water- self explanatory!
Where to Stay:
Usually when traveling I’ m pretty involved in finding a place for us to stay but because this was a trip that I went on on the fly my friend Christen found and booked our airbnb. It was perfect in center of the city and close to just about everything. The airport was only 15 mins away. There was a McDonalds, tons of shops and restaurants and bars within proximity of our airbnb.
It even has a rooftop with a hot tub and cabana. Very clean and had new and updated furnishings and furniture. I would absolutely stay there again.

Things to do:
You should make a reservation at a pool bar. We made a reservation at a pool bar/ hotel called Belvedere. It was beautiful and had a great view of the architecture and other islands close to Santorini. Most pool bars require you to one make a reservation but two you have to spend a certain amount of money if that isnt the hotel you’re staying in. We ate lunch there and had a good handful of drinks and shots!

Bar hopping is something we did each night in Santorini. The three bars that we frequented were Murphy’s, Old Town Club and Two Brothers. All were pretty much the same, smaller but weren’t too crowded to not enjoy yourself. My favorite out of the three was Two Brothers they were very accommodating. The majority of the music was American Hip Hop and Rap so we couldn’t complain.
On our last full day we did a boat tour of all the beaches and a hot spring. It was the sunset tour so our tour ended with the beautiful Santorini sunset. But we did get a chance to see the Red Beach, Black beach and White beach before the sunset. I was hoping that we wouldve been able to get off the boat and check the beaches out for ourselves but we misunderstood what our tour rep gave us. The tour cost 85 Euros per person and included drinks and dinner. I would suggest doing more research on other tour vendors to see whats out there and works for your travel plans but here is the link to our tour.
We did a fish pedicure on our last day and I have to mention its been on bucket list to have this done. The fish basically eat the dead skin off your feet and ankles. It was only 10 Euros for 15 mins but 15 mins was a beast after 5 I was good, but it was a cool experience nonetheless. Worth it! But I think that’ll be my first and last time. It felt weird and tickled as well.
Though I wasn’t able to I would highly suggest checking out Oía while in Santorini. There’s Blue Domes that you’ll definitely want to see in person and get a photo op of. You can get there by bus, taxi or tour.
Where to Eat:
As I mentioned earlier there’s only one McDonalds in town so if you want to keep it cute and cheap you could alway go there but the food at the Belvedere was great.
There’s a 24 Hour pizza shop that was cheap and good around our airbnb called The Family and each slice of pizza is 2.50 Euros! Clutch!
You can have a really nice dinner at a restaurant called Argo Restaurant. I’d consider it fine dining with a view! Prices were affordable and the food was great.
How much money did you spend?:
I took 200 in USD with me and probably spent another 150 on my debit cards which isn’t bad but I thinking getting cash out from your bank or even requesting Euros ahead of time from your bank is the smartest thing to do. It will save you time and fees. You can also do the same thing in town but you’ll have bank and exchange fees.
A trip from the airport to your airbnb or hotel shouldnt be more than 25-30 Euros.
As far as my flights were concerned I spent about $150-$175 total on all of the flights from Philly to Athens, Athens to Santorini and vice versa. I do have an advantage for the basic domestic and international flights because I fly standby through American Airlines but it worked in my favor so I could be with my girls. Overall, we literally just googled flights and went with the cheapest etc.
Bring out your best threads so your outfit can match the beautiful atmosphere. I flew in on Tuesday and left Friday but my friends are continued on to Mykonos and then back to Athens. I missed that segment of the trip because I used up all my PTO. But it was worth it. I suggest staying 3-4 full days in Santorini for the full experience.
Even though my trip was super short it was well worth the time and money. The locals are fairly nice but you may have your fair share of at least one rude person at a bar or something other than that we had no run ins.
That’s my speil about Santorini, I could go on and on for sure! If you have any questions about something that I didn’t cover, let me know in the comments!

Girl this trip looked nothing short of amazing. I think I’ve prolong booking a trip there because I thought I was too expensive. But after reading your post my view has changed. As long as I prepare I feel I’ll be fine. Thanks for sharing links to the Airbnb & deets on places to catch a vibe and eat. Will definitely revisit this post once I begin my planning!
