Shopping is so therapeutic for me but I also consider myself an impulse shopper as well… that isn’t really conducive to my bank account. The Vintage bag featured in this post was most certainly an impulse buy. But I recently decided to go on a 14- day spending fast from July 1st to July 14th. I cannot spend money on material things, i.e. clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. Whew this is going to be tough!
I absolutely love vintage and thrift stores because of the hidden gems I’ve found. They are only for the patient shopper though. You have to be able to look through racks on racks of clothing to find that pair of designer jeans or that vintage pair of sunglasses that just came back in style. I’m that shopper.
About five or six years ago I found this genuine leather hand painted bag at a Design Archives in Greensboro, NC. Its a really unique vintage store that carries various local vintage brands and local brands in general. The bag caught my eye because it was literally a work of art! The price was a little high for what I wanted to spend but after putting it on hold for a day I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I went ahead and coughed up the $60 for it. Its been in my wardrobe ever since. Like a modern day Van Gaugh painting for way less money! I don’t think I’ll ever sell it. But I knew this would be paired great with my fishnet dress and denim overall dress. Lets just say this look was very last min in a sense. I already had an idea of what I wanted to wear but was only able to put it together literally a half an hour before our scheduled shoot.
The mesh dress underneath my denim dress is from Urban Outfitters… clearance rack of course. Sale price $19.99 but was only $12 with 40% off for 4th of July Weekend. My denim overall dress is from HM clearance rack, I was able to get this one for $12 as well. It was longer than you see in the pictures I just ended up cutting it shorter so that it was above the knee and was a little edgier. You’ve seen my shoes and shades before in an older post but my shades are from Buffalo Exchange and my shoes are Cape Robbin by way of Nordstrom Rack… for the low of course. My look was is a mix between a work of art and a work in progress. Check out my outfit details below and let me know what you think!
